We got the grits. It is great. I used the fish fry to fry some sliced
eggplant. YUM!

Rule of thumb is, 4 parts WATER to 1 part GRITS.

Basic recipe for grits.
1/2 cup grits
2 cups water
1 Tbs. butter
Salt to taste (1/2 tsp. + or -)

In a heavy sauce pan, pour grits into cool water, stir and add salt. Bring to a gentle boil. Reduce heat, cover and cook until thick and creamy (stir often). You may need to add (hot) water if it gets to thick.

Options: Substitute one part of water with milk.
Add cheese or cooked bacon or cooked sausage.

The Livingston Market in Denham Springs is in full swing. More vendors with a great variety of produce and craft items! It is located in front of JAMES’ GRILL, across Florida St. from McDonalds, one block over from the antique strip where the FALL FEST is located.

The FALL FEST will be October the 3rd in the antique district. This also is bigger and better each year, a must to go to. Hope to see you there!

Just as I thought, this years corn is GREAT! I has GREAT color and grinds well.
We will be at the Denham Springs Farmer’s Market each Saturday starting with the first Saturday in September.
Market times are 7am to 12 noon.

This seasons corn is looking great! It is as good as it has ever been. The ears are full and have a fantastic smell when the ear is opened. Should make GREAT GRITS and MEAL.Hope to be able to start grinding the new corn about the 1st or at the latest the 2nd week of August
